Hi Friends, and thanks for checking out the blog today! For 2018, I’ve thought of a few ideas for both the blog and my social media postings, so hopefully I can introduce you to a few new things. And this post is the kick start for some “new things” on the blog!
One Friday each month, I’ll be posting “A few of my favorite things…” (cue “The Sound Of Music” ๐ ), but I’m not limiting it to just “Home Decor” related items. Of course those will be thrown in, but I’ll also be mentioning Clothing, TV Shows, Movies, Books, Songs, New Ideas, etc. So, let’s begin, shall we?
1. The Greatest Showman
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen where I posted in my stories about this movie. It’s my new favorite! I haven’t smiled watching a movie as much as I did during this one in quite sometime. It’s a musical about the beginnings of the P. T. Barnum Circus starring Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams, Zac Efron, and Zendaya (plus a lot of other amazing cast members. Too many to name.) It’s rated PG, so it’s perfect for boys and girls of all ages! I HIGHLY recommend that you watch it! It’s the bomb.com/yourmom! ๐
I even put some of the song lyrics on my chalkboard! ๐๐ผ
2. Capital Gaines
Y’all, I love a good book, but between work and school, it is so rare that I actually have time to sit back and read something of my choosing. My mom gave me Chip Gaines’s Book “Capital Gaines: Smart Things I Learned Doing Stupid Stuff” for my birthday (back in October). I’ve just finished it, and let me tell you, it is SO GOOD! (You can click the picture of the book above to go straight to where you can order your copy.)Chips gives a “behind the scenes” look at how Magnolia Market and Fixer Upper came to be from a more “business-perspective” than his and Jo’s other book, “The Magnolia Story”. And he is so inspiring! Like I feel like I could go start a business right now! ๐
I’m not going to tell you the “juicy” parts, because you should read those for yourselves, but there are a few key points that Chip makes that have really stuck with me and are worth reiterating:
1. “Perhaps you can’t quit your day job, and I understand that. But never, ever quit your day dream.”
2. “It’s never too late in your story to take a step away from fear.”
3. “I have no clue what the future holds at this point. God surely has a few more surprises in store for us, yet I refuse to box him up. I refuse to limit what our story might look like in the months and years to come. I can say no to everything the world offers. But any gift God has for me, I’m taking it.”
I truly believe that there are seasons in life, and many of us, including me, feel like we are not at a point where we can drop everything and just go after whatever our heart desires, but let tell you, that DOES NOT mean that we should forget our dreams… after all, “a dream is a wish your heart makes…” You may not be able to drop your 9-5, but you should never drop your dreams.
3. Harsel iPhone 7 Case
This is the phone case I’m currently using! I bought it off Amazon a few weeks ago because I really wanted a white case like I had for my old phone, and I finally found this one for under $10! I think it’s a good quality case. The white part is a hard plastic, so I haven’t had any problems keeping it clean. (You can click the picture above to get more info on this product. ๐ )
(BTW that blanket I used a background is from TJMaxx, and I LOVE it too! We’ll call it #3.5 ๐ )
4. Starbucks Toasted White Chocolate Mocha Frappuccino
This is currently my Starbucks drink of choice, and I hate that it’s seasonal. I’m not really a “coffee drinker”, but I love a good Frappuccino! According to the Starbuck’s website it’s:
…rich espresso, milk and flavors of caramelized white chocolate blended with ice and topped with whipped cream and candied cranberry sugar. And like the holidays, this drink is here, then gone.
Which, I didn’t know that’s what the little “sprinkles” were until I looked this up and that makes sense because I love cranberry.
5. Threshold Medallion Fringe Bath Towels (Gray) from Target
And last, but not least, are these Threshold towels from Target. I got them for Christmas and I love them! Their pattern and the added tassels can add a lot of texture to a space while keeping a neutral palette. Target calls them “grey”, but I think they’re more of a taupe. They’re a warmer color in person compared to the online picture, but, again, they are still a great neutral.
So, those are currently few of my favorite things… I recommend all of them (especially The Greatest Showman), so if you check them out for yourself, let me know what you think!
Do you have something you’ve recently purchased/seen/heard/did that’s become your new favorite? Let me know through any social media platform! (You can find the links to my profiles at the bottom of this site!)
Have a great day, friends!!!
Couldn’t agree more about The Greatest Showman…I have been listening to the soundtrack nonstop! Definitely one of those classics that takes you by surprise.
Yes! Itโs my new favorite!! ๐
