And just like that, my “President Duke” era comes to a close! 🪩 What a year it has been… we set out on a mission to help our members, affiliates and community ✨SHINE✨ in 2025 and I’m so proud of what we accomplished! I can’t wait to see what President @asheidyhaney does in 2026! We really are “Better Together!” (she couldn’t have picked a better theme for the new year!)
It’s been an honor to serve, and I’m so thankful for the opportunities and leadership skills I’ve been privileged to develop this past year! Thanks to everyone who led or served on a committee, who showed up for luncheons and events, who passed along a word of encouragement, who supported the board and supported me! It takes a village and everything is a team effort - the directors and the members are the real MVP’s. Without them, none of it would come together.

One month left of 2025 Looking back… idk how we’ve

One month left of 2025
Looking back… idk how we’ve pushed through the craziness. We piled A LOT on this year… honestly, too much 🤪 but here’s a few things I’m learning along the way…

1. It’s ok to be tired… it’s not ok to always be tired. It’s ok to rest. I jokingly say “sleep is for the weak” but it’s actually for the strong. If you need a break from the cray, take it. Don’t worry about the “stuff” - it ain’t going anywhere. If it does, then on to the next thing.
2. You can’t be everything to everyone all the time. You just can’t. You can kill yourself trying to be or you can accept that you’re doing your best.
3. Sometimes the bravest answer is no. Even though you are terrified of letting people down, even though your brain tells you you should be able to handle it all… stress does not equal strength. We often think it does. “Yea, I can handle it… I got it… it’s just one more thing, task, event, commitment, priority…” when you know what you really need is one LESS instead of one more. You have to trust the right “no’s” will lead to the right “yes’s.”
4. You can’t tie your worth to your work. HARD, but true. If you walked away from everything you’re doing, your real people will still be there and they’ll still love you. No requirements, no earning it, no need for anything except for you to exist. Stop telling yourself that the only reason people have anything to do with you is because of what you can do for them.
5. Sometimes life sucks. Sometimes people suck. AND YOU get to choose your reactions. You can’t always control your first thought, but you can control your second. You can’t control other people’s actions, but you can control your reactions. Let them. Again HARD… but let them.
6. Deadlines are fake. There’s no rush, no need to be at x by y. It’s all in your head. I had all this junk that was supposed to happen by 30. It didn’t. (And did you die? No.) I put all this pressure into having or doing or choosing by a certain point and why?! It’s all fake. And it took a good friend to point out that out this past week.

The list could go on and on… really grateful for the people in my life who believe in me and support me and laugh at my stupid jokes 🤪 and don’t run away when I’m having a good ol’ “Menty B.” 🤪 And not everyday is good, but there IS good in everyday - ya just got to look for it. I normally find it in my people.

✨🎄 Five years later and it’s officially a tradition — decorating my friend’s house for Christmas and turning it into full-on cozy holiday magic.

We get better every year - putting together our little strategy, fluffing 14,000 branches, “negotiating” with Christmas lights and then stepping back to see everything come together… It’s like real estate, but with more glitter and fewer contracts. 🤪😂🎄

Nothing hits quite like gathering with the people who knew you before the glow-up, the career, and the chaos. As we were getting lined up on the steps of the Capitol, Angela said “This is our last group pic…” and it hits us that this year has flown by and we won’t be seeing each other every month or so anymore 🥲… but we’ve got a great group and I know we’ll be partying it up at conference for years to come 😜🥳

Somedays life’s a blast and somedays it almost takes a little more to roll outta bed… but the important part is to keep on keepin’ on.

This year has been one of (if not) the most challenging. Life has “life’d” harder than ever and yet looking back - there’s been so many amazing things… so many amazing experiences… so many amazing people… and so many chances to see and prove that we’re stronger than we think. Chapters have and are coming to a close… and new ones are beginning. It’s been a heck of a story thus far and Lord only knows what plot twist is next 🤪 Doors are opening (literally and figuratively 🚪🏡) and while the rooms inside may look a little different than “little Dylan” may have imagined, I can’t wait to start to decorating 😜🤣

There’s so much to be thankful for, and while we never know what tomorrow brings, there is joy ahead. So if you’re starting or in or coming out of a new season… just keep on going… it won’t be easy… and some days will be harder than others… but as long as you got God, good people, and a purpose… there’s no limits. 🚀
