Adjusting Your Sails

Hey peeps! It’s Monday again, and we’re facing another week of the unknown. It’s crazy how times like this can offer such realization of how quickly things can change in our personal lives.
As I talked about last week, we are not in control, and I think this quote does a good job of expanding on that. We may not be able to “direct the wind, but we can adjust our sails.” We can adjust to the changes or the obstacles that life may throw at us.
This makes me think of our school systems. How in just a matter of days (for some a matter of hours) teachers and administrators across the country converted their instruction, something that’s been done in-person for so long, to digital learning. Business adjusted their “regularly scheduled programming” to make sure that needs were being met. Marketers and advertisers threw out their planned campaigns, advertising and messaging and adjusted to meet these changes head on and communicate their effects. Parents adjusted to working with and teaching their children more than probably ever before. Students adjusted to learning in a new way.
“We cannot direct the wind, but we can adjust the sail…”
Yes, these are very different days we are living in, but can you say resiliency?! Times are a little tougher, but we are overcoming them, YOU are overcoming them. It may be hard to plan, and we may be taking it day by day or even minute by minute… but however, that wind blows, we’re adjusting our sails and moving forward.
We (YOU) are smart.
We (YOU) are capable.
We (YOU) are resilient.
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
– Roman 8:37 (NIV)
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
– John 1:5 (NIV)
You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
– 1 John 4:4 (NIV)
It’s in times like this that we have to choose to believe that there will be calm after the storm if only we keep “adjusting our sails” until we make it through it.
You can do it, peeps… Keep on keeping on!
Have a great week!
