He is Still Good
Happy Monday, friends! For this week #MondayMotivation post because it’s important for us to remember that even when things don’t go according to our plan, they are going according to God’s. And even if we don’t understand just yet, He is still good!
I think we all have points in our lives when we are filled with uncertainty, whether we’re worried about our job, our bills, our family, our friends… but in these crazy, crazy times, we need to remember that He is in control.
As I’m ending my final days in school, I feel like I’m at that point… where will find a job? What if it’s something I don’t like? What if (fill in the blank)… But we’re told not to think about the what if’s.
Daniel 3 has a great example of this with the story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. Basically, King Nebuchadnezzar is telling them to either worship his pagan gods or they will be thrown into a “blazing furnace.” But their faith is so strong in God, that they still refuse to worship those idols, even if it means death.
They reply to the king in verses 16 -18 saying…
… King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But, even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.
And this answer infuriated the king, so he ordered the furnace to be heated seven times hotter than usual, had his soldiers tie up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego and threw them in to the furnace.
But, the fire didn’t harm them, and when the King looked, there was a fourth man walking around in the fire with them! The King called them out, and the three of them walked, completely untouched by the fire.
When we put our complete trust and faith in God, things happen. This example that he made through these three faithful men shows us that no matter what is going on around, we can hold fast to our Lord.
We may pray for life to be easy, but even if it’s not, he is still good.
Have a great week friends!
