The First Year: 5 Things I Would Say To Brand New Bloggers

1. Do it!

If you have the desire and the drive to start a blog, there is nothing stopping you from doing it. You can create a site at no cost and customize it a lot of ways.

Believe me, you voice is original and it’s important… so you should share it with other people.

2. Figure out your why

I cannot stress this one enough. You must know why you’re doing what you’re doing. And this may take some time. You may think you’re going to focus your content on a certain subject, but then end up taking a whole new direction, which is totally normal.

But never loose sight why you are taking your time to blog and share the information you are sharing.

3. Learn and research constantly

Be a sponge! You should always be soaking up new information because you never know how it will benefit you. Whether you take actual classes on a certain subject, listen to podcasts or just use Google to research a subject or topic you’re interested in, always be learning and improving.

In today’s world, if you are not innovating, you’re dying. That may be straightforward, but facts are facts. Make sure you’re in that innovating crowd!

4. Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone

Sometimes, you have to take risks. Whether that’s in the content you post, the platform you use or simply putting yourself out there. There will always be that little fear of rejection, but there’s a much better chance for success.

… and if you don’t try, you’ll never know. Sometimes this chances you take are the best thing that you can do. Don’t ever let fear of failure hold you back!

5. It’s not about numbers

When it comes to blogging, it is NOT about the numbers! Those will come when the time is right. As long as you enjoy what your doing/writing, and YOU see the value in it, then you are doing great!

Having lots of followers and lots of impressions and lots of views is great! BUT, it is NOT everything, so don’t let that be how you measure your worth or your success. Just do you!

This series was meant to give you some extra information and insight as to what blogging looks like for me and what I’ve learned over the past 12 months. I’m so excited to see what’s in store for this 2nd year!

Thank you so much for being a part of this journey… whether you check out my site regularly or if this is your first visit, I’m so appreciative and thankful for your support and interest in my musings. You’re the-bomb-dot-com!

My goal in doing this whole blogging thing is to motivate, inspire, empower and share a few tips and tricks, and my prayer is that something I put together checks one or more of those boxes for you.

Here’s to year two… ever onward and upward! 😀
